Help us ensure the history of Kent Street SHS is never forgotten—by the generations who lived it, or the ones still to come.

There are several ways you can help support our Building Bridges, Not Walls digital project commemorating the military heritage of Kent Street SHS.

We’ve already identified more than 1,000 alumni or their family members who served in Australia’s military. We’re building a dedicated archive of veteran profiles—names, photographs, service records, and personal histories—and we need more volunteers to help us do it.

Researchers at any experience level can contribute: whether it be locating and verifying online service records, tracking down Trove articles, photographing memorabilia, or simply sitting with a family member and listening, there’s a role for you.

And if you have photos, documents, or memories connected to a Kent Street veteran, please reach out now. Local history doesn’t wait.

If you have information on a veteran who should be listed, photos or any other memorabilia you have which is relevant to this project, or you would like an opportunity to support this important recording of our local history before it is lost, please contact us.

Big museums have permanent investment funds to help cover daily operational costs. We don’t. We rely entirely on donations and fundraising to pay essential bills, care for our collections, and train volunteers.

Though volunteers work for free, their time is very valuable. For instance, based on the replacement cost for a typical volunteer:

Smaller amounts help too. More funding means we can add more veteran profiles to our website.

And remember, most donations to the Kentian Society (Inc) are tax deductible.
